Tea-loving poltergeist?

That was weird - my kettle just started boiling itself. There's nobody but me in the house right now and the pets are all where I can see them .. v odd. There's probably some perfectly ordinary reason why it did this, but I can't think of it right now - any ideas?

depending on the type of kettle, it is possible for a temerature difference to expand/contract materials to flick switches or make current cross boundaries it might not otherwise do.

This is true. Just not very probable.
Every instance it's happened to me, it transpires *I* did it, and just forgot!

nah the kettle is faulty...it switched off early yesterday so I switched it back on and it never turned off....
