The Nationals

Mar 25, 2007 13:44

Can anybody tell me what's actually going on with the Nationals? I've looked on the website and it seems massively out of date and there is no actual information there. For instance it would be nice to know when we're supposed to get there on Friday, and where to go when we arrive (Teviot?), and what time it's expected to finish on the Sunday. Also ( Read more... )

The Freeform (non-contact LARP) has been a train-wreck for some time. Claire and I were originally going to write and run the games. We quit about a month ago, because the committee refused to let us contact the players, or even know who they were. Apparently we were supposed to cast the game blind, and hand out characters and sort costuming on the day.

I did suggest that they contact people like Werebadger and UK Freeforms and try to borrow an already-written game, but they haven't done that either. Last I heard some bloke in Glasgow was going to write and run both games, but I've no idea if that'll actually happen.

I'm very sorry about what's happened. My game will be running at other cons (starting with Tentacles at the end of May) and I really hope you're at one of them and play.

Cheers,
Graham

Someone (or two someones) has (or have) been brought in from elsewhere to write and run the LARPs. Only know this because Lee told me yesterday.

I'll definately want to be around for that one, in that case - and I'm rather miffed that it's come to that for the freeform larp - I had heard you might be running it, and was rather looking forward to it.
From your story, however, it certainly sounds like they'd be unable to organise a pissup in a brewery...

yoda's comment below fills me with trepidation, too. "brought in elsewhere" with a week to go is pretty much train wreck territory by all warnings...

from the sounds of things, they're competent guys and I have no idea when they started planning it out, but it'll have been a couple of weeks at least...
