RANT WARNING, but here: This really, to put it crudely, sticks a can in my craw.

Wow, that does seem like a ridiculously weird thing to do, and also ultimately not useful. I don't think there's any way it would actually help either grad school applicants or admissions people at grad schools, either. The numbers will end up being fairly random, so even if the schools use them it won't actually improve the quality of their applicants in any way.Also I'm not sure how much grad schools actually care about applicants' personalities--I'm pretty sure the Art History students in my program did't even have to do interviews.
