yeah. stayed in sosua, which is near puerto plata. try to get away from the city if you can, there are some amazing beaches to visit. and cabarete sucks, only bother if you want a day of dirty beach watching kitesurfers and eating overpriced north american style food with other tourists. or cheap souvenir shopping.
