I might be in the minority here, but I don't think this is an inherently evil thing.

I'll just stick to running SpyBot/AdAware periodically. :)

If you use Firefox, just install Adblockplus and then go http://easylist.adblockplus.org/ and install easyprivacy. It stops them from tracking you.

And as Google has done this for a while through its AdWords, I'm surprised so many people are just noticing this is normal.

I'm pretty sure facebook did that for a little while. People all stopped clicking on ads, and eventually the boycott worked and it went away...
