Oh, dear - this does sound a difficult situation. And as though you're going to have to make a decision for your mother that she won't like. :-(

*hugs* There's no easy solution - but even if your mother doesn't recognise that you can't manage her and her wheelchair, everyone else does. My God - it's bad enough with a small child and a pushchair, never mind what you have to negotiate.

She's always been so practical, that her intransigence came as a total surprise. I was hoping as it became more and more apparent that an easier solution could not be found she'd come around, but so far no. At least I got to vent, and now I can attack the problem again. Thanks for listening.

I'll trade you. Your mom for my son? He's pretty much the opposite of everything you said your mom was. Perfect, right?

Actually, some days that swap sounds perfectly delightful. I'm sure we'll get things worked out, hopefully without too big of a scene!
