Oh joy, oh rapture!

I have a new computer. After about 18 months of keeping up on an i-pad when I could, I can now type away whatever old dross I like once again. You have been warned. I just have to get used to the position of the shift key - I keep hitting the slash key instead (oooh... is the universe telling me something ( Read more... )

OO so good to hear from you again- yes you need to write more- I was actually wondering who would write a story involving the tragic situation for the refugees coming into Europe and thought of you.
Congrats on your honours- I too feel a bit daunted by an original thesis but iam considering doing it in adolescent mental health-
Welcome back and looking forward to hearing more from you now you are not only writing academic stuff

Hello again! Lovely to see you, too. I found myself thinking over a couple of old ideas last night in bed that I thought might be worth revisiting...

But I would never write about the refugee crisis, unless as a think piece. I couldn't fictionalize something that is happening and is so tragic. I have offered the downstairs space for a family of refugees when we get our 12,000. It's not much, but it is self-sufficient (with a bathroom and kitchen and single living space) so even as a stop gap measure, I could help out. It just breaks my heart to see the pictures of these poor people - I want to reach out and grab them all, bring them here!

Good hearts are indeed in rare supply sometimes. But they exist in the most unlikely places, don't you think? I've given up trying to predict people; the ones I expected to be compassionate are not, and the ones I expected to be callous are anything but. And I count myself amongst those who are not always as good as they could be! I like that Walt Whitman phrase: I contain multitudes. And at least one of those is a bitch! Sigh.

Thank you for the welcome! It is nice to be back, although I don't know how fannish I'm going to be. More likely rant-ish. I've been thinking of using this space to gather some thoughts about things - gee, like a real journal.
