I also can't figure out what Carver was doing with Metatron, but whatever it was, it didn't work.

I don't know what he was doing with Metatron either, but I hope that whatever it was that it is now done. I'm terribly afraid that since he's not dead, he will be brought back and I don't want to know what they were doing with him enough to have to sit through any more of him. I was bored with his go among the people scenes.

Yes, Sam and Dean have become less and less central to the show. Sam could be replaced by a potted plant a lot of the time. I hope this was a transitional season and that they will come to the forefront next season.

I think Metatron is the single character I hate the most of everyone they've ever had on this show. SO DULL. And after all the female villains we've seen stabbed to death over the years, I really wanted to see that with Metatron, but no. I very much fear they may try to bring him back later,

Still processing the finale and exactly what I feel about it - I just caught up last night and have watched the damn thing twice already. I agree totally that whatever else I feel, the story and the way they're telling it has gotten away from them. PARE IT DOWN would be my three-word mantra to Carver. Just pare the bloody thing down to SamnDean and get us back to the heart of the show.

Yeah, they really let the story get away on them. The themes of this show were never all that complex, but it was about family, about heroism, about sacrifice. Now - I don't know what it's about. I couldn't tell you, in a sentence or two, what the show *is* or what it's about. And that's generally a bad sign.
