Mostly the Dailies and soulbound items. I do agree that if you can't transfer it to another character(my "context" interpretation of alt as I don't do WoW. Let me know if I'm wrong.) you shouldn't be able to sell it.
The Lockouts are farming protection. Since there is a shadow economy there will be countermeasures. Also it increases logins and people on the server (both lead to profit)
The guest guild thing is a spam protection. it could be worked around but I'm sure that keeping Guilds (which cost gold/money, right?) spamfree trumps their ability to coordinate with strangers. In fact I could see that most guilds probably don't care about adding strangers if their guild is bustling.
I know nothing about banks, and storing it in a second character (or 3) is a dumb idea.
