What do you say to your the woman you planned to marry when you come back after four months of being gone? Hell if I knew. Buffy and Spike were out for the night doing....well, whatever it was that they do. I think Buffy went on patrol and Spike decided to tag along or something. "I didn't get hurt by James. I got hurt by my fiance." I pointed out to him, raising an eyebrow in his direction. Getting kidnapped by James? So not very fun. But he didn't really hurt me and in the end I wondered if I was payback or just a bribe to convince Grace to start working there or whatever. Not that it mattered, that was months ago and I hardly thought about it anymore. But Connor? I had thought about him everyday.

All right, I deserved that. I winced a little at the words and the tone of voice. Mostly it was knowing it was the truth. Cordelia was strong, and it would take a lot to hurt her. Only the people she loved had that power, and I'd used it to wound her ( ... )
