Thanks. I wrote it for a "writing party" I'm going tonight. Someone chose as a topic "promise" and then folks will all bring something they wrote for that topic. I made the drawing last week, and while I don't particularly like the drawing, it made me really really sad.
My daughter is 2, so you'll understand when I say it fills me with trepidation also.
From my college sketchbooks I remember clearly drawing a picture of myself with several spiky-looking chromosomes while listening to a lecture in psychology class about the very normal parents of a serial killer. I was scared of just the thing you are writing about here. I still am.
I wouldn't worry too much--there was a very strong correlation (I'd say 100% in the case of this particular class) between good parenting and good outcomes. And by good parenting, I don't mean being perfect--I mean being parents who love their children and care about them and pay attention to the and try to do the best they can, which I can tell from your posts that you do completely!
Oh fifth grade--it's such a lovely year. Right in the middle of the golden age of childhood. But the thing about kids is that they just get better and better, and more and more themselves the older they get.
It IS an adjustment, though, having a son off in college.

Sorry you're feeling down--this is a hard time, though, I know.

And as for the drawing...well, it seems kindof crude, and doesn't really hang together....
I should write you a REAL letter because I want to know how you are!

But what can you do? But love them?
