This is a continuation of the previous post. At the end of each quiz are additional materials and questions. These are from the 'Food for Thought' section.
Does your character have an ongoing relationship with his parents? If so, to what extent will that ongoing relationship factor into your novel?
Tannis certainly does. He has lived with his father for his entire life, and neither of them have any intention of changing that. In the story, Thrives In The Dark, the plot is driven by their relationship, it's what the story is really about. Not their bounty hunter careers. Tannis is obsessive, needy, and relies completely on his father.
He hates and fears his mother, has no contact with her, but she factors into the story as well. His issues with her make it difficult for him to accept his father's relationships with others, especially women. Which leads to the climax of the story.
So, yeah, his parents are important.
Does your character have a dynamic relationship with one or more siblings? Is there a place for that dynamism in your novel?
Tannis doesn't have any siblings. Or friends. His only other relationship is with Bania, his handler for the Agency. They aren't close, their relationship is kept mutually distant, but they do have a sort of love/hate bickering thing going on that they both do (Bania) and do not (Tannis) enjoy.
Might the memory of a family member (like a grandparent or a parent) play a role in your novel?
Yes, definitely. The memories Tannis has of his mother have a huge psychological impact on him and his relationship with his father.
