My car died last Wednesday night. Timing chain broke, and it's not worth the $1100 to fix this on a 98 cavalier with 130k miles on it, since other problems were starting to creep in. I've test driven a Ford Focus, Chevy Cobalt, and Mazda 3

I think $17,129 is good for a car.

My next vehicle will be a Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix, most likely 2 years old. They are decent vehicles and new cost less than that Mazda. However, there is nothing wrong with getting a car 1-2 years old.
