Lunchtime poll!

So, after quite literally years, I am finally updating my fic site. I'm also tweaking the site architecture a little, to accomodate the writing I've done in that time. There are a couple of decisions I've gone back and forth on, so rather than decide arbitrarily, I thought I'd ask ( Read more... )

I've ended up being lazy and archiving everything on LJ. ^_~

I have mine tagged for 'fandom indexs' which link to AU 'verse indexes' where needed. That way people can hop right to where they want, or just take a long scroll through everyrthing. Now I just have to get all of the posts interlinked. ^_^;;

Yes, if I had more of my earlier fic on LJ, I might be tempted to take the site down altogether. Good luck with the linkage!

I like it when people provide a way for me to leave feedback on each page - ideally not just an email address, because I always feel I haven't written enough in email feedback and then I feel guilty. Linking to a post = yay.

I think that's part of why posting fic to LJ has become so popular: a lot of people prefer leaving feedback that way. Thanks for the feedback!

I prefer separate index pages the main fandoms and another page or two for "miscellaneous."

I prefer links to other pages, if used, on the left side.

Miscellaneous! That's actually nicer than "Other," if longer.

Thanks for the feedback.

When I visit a site with fic in multiple fandoms, I prefer...

My preference is for separate index pages for each fandom, provided that the author has at least three stories for that fandom.

Thanks for the feedback; it seems like a lot of people share your point of view.

Separate index pages for each fandom
All the stories listed on one page, under headings for each fandom

It depends on volume. If you have, say, 60 SGA fics and 10 smallville fics and 25 Sentinel fics, each of those deserves it's own index page. but if you have a handful of fics for things you only ever did one or two for, you could have a "and other things" index page with these things together, seperated by fandom header. if soemthing on that got huge -- say you went from 3 Heroes fics to 10 -- you move it to it's own page.
