Heroes season finale

May 21, 2007 22:43

Literally just ten days ago, I was at dinner with yahtzee63 and we were discussing Heroes. She said, "Of course, the way I'd really want it to end is Nathan flying Peter off to explode the bomb safely, but they're never going to do that." Tonight, I could almost hear her saying "Holy SHIT!" from here.

(Somewhere, the person who wrote the Peter-and-Nathan-explode story for Yuletide is dancing in the endzone. ETA: D'oh! It was yahtzee63! And she is!)

Of course, Peter and Nathan could still be back next season, on the "no one ever dies" rule of comics -- Peter is invulnerable, and if DL's power works on someone else when he's touching them, why not Peter's? But that's a hell of an ending, if it's their end, and I just hope Adrian Pasdar has some work lined up if so.

That finale was satisfying on so many levels -- it made Nikki/Jessica's story make some sort of SENSE, for once, and almost sort of empowering; it brought Parkman full circle with Molly; and it underlined a core theme for the season, especially over this second half: love and family. Hiro is more worthy of his heroism because he rescues Ando, and gets him out of harm's way, before he saves the world: even his dad comes to understand that. The Bennetts would do anything for each other, and eventually, for Peter as well. (Noah! Such a great name for a character who took someone in...) And of course Peter and Nathan love each other really, really, a lot. *g*

I'm so ridiculously satisfied, and I can't wait for the next part. (Speaking of which, was that something crawling out of the fountain over the "End of Part One" credit?!?)
