So, a little back history: I live out in the middle of nowhere in a scrub forest, the only vegetation is cactus and cedar with the occasional wild flowers in May (which is very beautiful!). A couple of years ago this white mold grew on pretty much all of the cactus, I tried spraying stuff around to kill the mold to no avail. Most of the cacti died ( Read more... )

Cochineal is a bug used for dye, right? What color?

And what's a cote-hardy?

Maybe now you can sell dye-cakes at renaissance faires. :D

Cochineal is a bright red color, it's what they use to dye Cardinals coats red.

^This is a cote-hardee (I misspelled it the first time :P) The one I'm making is slightly different, with ties on the sides.

I would love to do something like that, but first I need a lot more dye stuffs ^_^
