Reading your entry totally took me back to the days of teaching norwegian as a second language! :) As for interesting cultural crashes - I never quite understood the way people express their gratitude towards me. The highlights included a Turkish man who jumped up and kissed me on my cheeks - 4 times! - because I told my class they could go a bit early (as I had a film to catch, but nevermind..) and a girl from Japan, who brought me the cutest origami'ed little figures in many-coloured paper, because I gave her a good grade on her essay... It's a strange, strange world. At the moment I'm in the middle of a rather hectic test period at my school, and most of the days I'm just required to sit and look at 30 kids who are hard at work writing down the answers to their tests. It's dull work, but at least I can read a bit in a book while doing do. Originally we're not supposed to do anything but overlook the kids, but c'mon! A girl need some entertainment so she doesn't fall asleep!! :)
