Lilith (/Satan), I hate the ending myself, but it started with an alright scene, pgonehoureternitySeptember 21 2011, 02:25:48 UTC
She refused to lie beneath Adam, and when he tried to force her, she left him. No man would make her subserviant, no man, and certainly not angels. They tell her she must go back, but she merely laughed at them and sneered. She has her demons now, and her children, her marvelous Lilin. She needed nothing else.
And then they started to kill her children. 'Punishment,' they said. 'And it will continue every day until you return.'
Of course, two could play at that game, and she began to murder infants in kind. If she could not have her children, then they could not have theirs. To her, it was fair. After all, she promised to spare the ones with the proper symbols on them. It was a small price to pay; so many did not have them, and she took them from this world scarcely after they'd entered it.
'Monster' they called her. 'Bride of Satan. Succubus. Whore. Demon.' They called her all these things, and she rose to embrace each and every title, taking up residence in Hell as queen of demons, a harsh and fiery ruler who cared for nothing

GENIUS AND THE THIEVESIt is a relief, here, almost--she is not quite used to this new skin, this funny loose cover of hers that makes them look in the kitchen and through the doors and in the windows, that made her mother send her away, that made her mother try to kill her

EEEK. Coherency is somewhere else. Not here. Somewhere else. This place is a place where everything is morbid and fascinating and somewhere, in the afterlife, Angela Carter has poured herself a drink and is toasting us all.

nights into wordsThe house swallows the boy the way a merchant's fist swallows coin; with the physical certainty of payment that is due. The boy is not a barter, he is a fee and the house demands its debt paid in his flesh

Amy, this is gorgeous, gorgeous and I love the way you subverted the evil stepmother trope and your prose, ah! Thank you.

I really love this. It's such a perfect, sharp, complete little character study and it's all there.
