It's been made abundantly clear to me that there are people 'out there' who think I focus overly on the negative, or something similar, and who do not want to read my rants about pain, symptoms and disability ( Read more... )

It sounds odd, but I find your journal fascinating. I find your "adventures" with doctors and councilpersons very interesting - sometimes in a "yay for them" way and sometimes in a "I can't believe what morons they are" kind of way.

It's an educating look at the differences between our countries (not that I'm saying the US is any better).

On the whole, I'm amazed at the way you deal with what life has given you.

Your LJ is your LJ. Period, end of statement. You can fill it up with quizes (which I definitely would ignore), you can fill it up with news links, you can fill it with mindless chatter or you can fill it with real thoughts about what's happening to you.

And people can either read or not read.

Me, I plan to read. I may skim by some days, read in more depth others, and comment only rarely as I'm a wee bit busy these next few years and my day job sucks spoons. But when I have the time to read, I want to read what you want to write.

Oh, I'm so tired of people who are frightened by reality when it involves pain and difficulty. They are dangerous and damaging, and not worth our time. Mature adults can handle the good and the bad in life and in other's lives - and that's who we need on our side (I've met 5 year olds who get this more than most adults).

You are one of the people who help me feel less alone in what I'm struggling with, just by telling it how it is. Thank you!

I love the Evita quote and coincidentally am listening to an ALW compilation at the moment - a piece from Evita was playing just as I was reading your post!

Oh, yay. I'm so glad I can be of help. Thank you!

We went to see Evita in the West End last night (marvellously accessible theatre!). It was fab. :)

I Hate You!!!! ;-) I do love my musicals, but living in the backend of nowhere + poor + depression, physical pain, energy levels and not always great access, means I don't get to see many live - not for the last few years anyway. Mind you, with Evita, I'm happy to make do with the movie version with my Imaginary Boyfriend in it! And the laughable acting of Madonna - funniest death scene that doesn't have Debra Winger in it. :-)

We went in the wheelchair, which helped with the depression/pain/energy stuff. There are MASSIVE discounts of wheelchair users - we got the tickets at a fantastic price. And they were wonderfully helpful. But, yes, you do have to be living near a large city to be able to see such things! The woman who played Evita last night was an understudy of an understudy and she was still way better than Madonna. :D

I'm sorry you've had this crap 2 deal with :( Are u absolutely 100% certain that that's what ppl are saying/thinking tho? Has some1 actually said it 2 u out straight or is it "just" a feeling u have? Whatever, it's totally wrong that you've been made 2 feel this way. I know we've only just "met" but I have 2 say that I definitely have NOT gotten the impression that u have a negative outlook AT ALL. You've got alot 2 cope with & you're doing an amazing job of getting thru this dark time.... Pls dont let ignorant, WRONG ppl put u off posting honest, open, journal entries. If u need 2 vent your frustrations & ppl dont like it, well then they dont have 2 read it, do they?!

I've had similar thoughts in the past (thinking ppl see me as concentrating on my illnessess/situation/condition too much) & its not at all nice when some1 actually says something 2 u 2 that effect... Who the hell do they think they are ( ... )

A combination of the two. Most recently, a 'feeling'. On other occasions, and in other formats, it's been made clear. I decided to 'friends only' my journal and make it clear to others that this is the way life is.

Thanks for your support! Your entries really inspire me. {{hugs}}

" Your entries really inspire me."

Oh, wow, thanku so much 4 saying that :) Im actually always afraid that I bore ppl senseless with my incessant yakking! I worry that Im too honest & straight-talking, u know? I put alot of myself in2 each of my entries & really open up, so 4 u 2 say that I inspire u...well, it means alot, thanku.

However, its a while since u wrote the above comment, so u could well have changed your mind since then! ;)

*Gentle hugs*, xxxxx

Absolutely not! I am continually inspired by what you write. You are so focused on others, on their needs and on supporting them - as an example, your fantastic birthday messages, and your general posts are full of that attitude too - this concern for others that comes through in everything you write. It so inspires me, because I think I am very ungracious and self-focused in my entries - and there you are, much more unwell than me, but so concerned for others and interested in the rest of the world, and writing your own issues with such graciousness. Um, I'm really brain foggy and having issues with medication side effects, so please forgive me if that makes NO SENSE at all! Hehe... But I hope you can see what I mean.
