Yeah, I guess that I'm still a little down about Shawna not being here anymore. I got so used to her being here that I didn't think about her leaving. It was a great shock taking her to the airport, but the shock of seeing her go through security was a floorer. All I could do was stand there, even though I couldn't see her anymore, I still stood ( Read more... )

I got so used to her being here that I didn't think about her leaving.

I'm really sorry for the shock that came when she did leave, but I'm so glad you weren't dwelling on that upcoming event while she was actually there.

Question: Do you think that it is always wise to try to forget one's pain immediately? To just push it aside and try to carry on without letting it run its course? A friend and I were talking about that yesterday and they gave me this poem:They say that "Time assuages" --
Time never did assuage --
An actual suffering strengthens
As Sinews do, with age --

Time is a Test of Trouble --
But not a Remedy --
If such it prove, it prove too
There was no Malady --
~Emily Dickinson
To tell you the truth I honestly don't know. But I think pain does have a purpose in our lives. And that purpose is probably different for each of us. The key of course is learning what it is the Lord would have us learn in the process. Because as I said in my journal earlier this week: "God never stops teaching. It is merely I who go through ( ... )

The last couple of days that she was here I had a feeling of dread come over me, but I largely ignored it.

Pain...
Without it
One does not grow
One cannot cherish
One cannot feel
Embracing pain
Teaching
Learning
Healing tears
You're not alone
In this pain
Growing stronger
Through Him...

I always go back to Him, no matter what happens to me...I ALWAYS bounce back. He heals me directly, through writing and through the friends He sends me. I know that He exists because of this...despite my defiance. Soooooo, to answer your question, pain IS necessary...play it out, live it, embrace it...and heal. :)

*hugs* I think you have wise friends, Mel. Listen to them.
You will be okay, but it may hurt for a while.
I love your new icon, btw. :) Heartfelt.

I'm sorry to hear how hard it is, Mel. I understand. Do what you can for Shawna, but keep in mind who is on the throne. Our God is sovereign and He gives the desires of the heart to those that delight in Him (Psalm 37:4). But delight in Him. Give thanks and rejoice (James 1:2-4) that Shawna is someone you love (and who loves you) enough that you would ache for them. I don't know if your ex-wife is a Christian or not, but your spiritual leadership is going to have a profound impact on her life. So prepare yourself; she will need you more than you know.

Thank you, Andy...Her Mom is a christian, but she's in a "cult". It's a very controlling church, and I worry about Shawna rebelling. The church has a history of losing ALL of their youth. What's worse, is they don't go to other churches when they leave the church. They turn totally away from God!!! I'll be right on top of her when she leaves the church...AND SHE WILL LEAVE. The only thing I worry about is that I'm not around there...

Plus, another thing I worry about is her living conditions. There is her Mom, her Aunt and her THREE SONS!!! It's the three sons that I'm worried about. Her aunt also treats her VERY badly. She did poorly in school last year because of it all. Well, I'm sorry, I got off on a tangent...
