Last Thursday was the BOD meeting for the Astronomy Society.  This July we will be hosting 2010 ALPO Conference   The Association of Lunar & Planetary Observers ALPO Home.  I'm glad we have the honor and privilege.

We are expecting famed comet hunter David Levy to come and speak. He will bring a copies of both of his most recent books and autograph them.

20 inches of rain across northeast Florida since Sunday...more to come....
not much opportunity to exercise out doors.

I watched Twilight this afternoon, but I missed the lecture I had planned on attending topic:
Search for Life in Outer Space 43º F outside now. Socks and assorted laundry in dryer now.

Seems to be starting better than 2008. There were some really rough spots last year. I can say that 2007 ended much worse than 2008. This years holidays went well. the FRC kickoff last Saturday was crowded but nice.

Will assemble Dobsonian soon, The sag of the eight inch mirror is very close to correct. May start grinding ten inch mirror soon. The tool for the ten inch is different variety from the tools I used for the six and eight inch mirrors. I am still researching the refractor designs ( Read more... )

Mirror arrived with fresh coating. Need to clean my other reflector's mirror.
I will rearrange stuff to make room for new projects.
