You need to have someone wait at the camera. When she looks away, make a noise to get her to glance back. Push the button right after you make the noise. I know... it's easier to just set the timer, but it doesn't work. You walk away, and she doesn't have a reason to look over there anymore.

I have camera-avoiding monkeys, too. The noise trick doesn't work as well now. :p

People were using toys and everything to try to get her to look over. And heaven forbid she smiles. I think we have maybe 3 pictures of her smiling. She will be laughing her little head off and then you whip out the camera and it is all serious face!
