"I hear lies being spoken in the ight, anything you want to be you kin be, the greatest lie of all" (Midnight's Children). This entry reminded me of Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children, which I think you should read if you have not.
There have been a few (extremely unpleasant) moments in my life when I realized I didn't even want to be happy. When I think about my life, those sometimes serve as marker points.
BTW, I've got a book for you: Jonathan Franzen's The Corrections. My copy's in hard cover and it's actually tiring holding it with one hand, but I'll bring it down and see if you want it. I, for one, enjoyed it.
