We've eaten well lately.

So, we've been on a bit of a "try out recipes from new cookbooks" kick lately. And by "we," I mean "Rae does most of the planning and the cooking, and I go on shopping trips and do prep work like chopping things." Still... that's helpful, right ( Read more... )

So much YUM! I'm growing thyme on my balcony now and went looking for recipes with fresh thyme the other night. Found one risotto and a delicious chicken dish! Love chicken and that honeyed one... 8-o I have to do it! Yup!

You poor thing, you don't like raspberries at all, or not just the raspberry vinegar? I could live on raspberries, LOL. But I have problems with too many strawberries, berries can be tricky.

The chive on my balcony is thriving too, and chive is absolutely essential, since midsummer is almost here! The food culture here around these pagan old feasts are revered and people don't fully grasp the meaning of it, which is kind of cute. ;-)

I wish I had the patience to grow things on our balcony, but our neighbors smoke like chimneys on THEIR porch downstairs, so it would probably be less than successful. (Also, I'm too scatterbrained to grow anything that isn't idiot-proof these days.)

I don't know what the thing is with me and raspberries... I love all other berries... blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries... there's just something about them that doesn't sit right with me. Luckily, we found a place that makes fantastic blackberry vinegar, and it works great as a replacement.

How cool that you have a food culture around those holidays... I love stuff like that.

Let me know how you like the honey chicken when you make it!

Smoking on balconies should be a serious crime. *shakes fist* I know that it must be very tough to be a smoker these days, but honestly: stop it already!

It's like me and fresh strawberries. Five or six berries for Midsummer is enough. I like it in icecream, jam, etc.

Will keep you posted! :-)
