Health Care for Republicans

Well, it's been a while... a few days at least. I meant to post more but, oddly enough, I've been really fucking busy lately. But here I am, back again, and to talk about politics... I know it's usually a bad idea, especially when it's making you angry, but anger is also what gives one the most need to talk about something ( Read more... )

Eh, I do believe politicians are almost the same. If someone who isn't like them comes along, they don't last long. Like Jimmy Carter. He + Congress = fail. And, really, I think all the parties are, somewhere, built on lies. Clinton sure lied about certain things, lol. Besides, not like Obama's doing so fantastically everywhere: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/ But, admittedly, I like his administration more than Bush, Jr.'s.

Not like the Democratic party always existed. I guess you mean since it existed? Since we had Whigs, and we had Republican-Democrats, and Bull Mooses, among others.

I don't like populism too much. Doesn't help that Lou Dobbs has apparently spoken out as one of them. Granted, I also don't like elitism either, haha.

Clinton primarily lied about where he put his dick. Not exactly a political issue, that one.

And yes, I didn't think I was implying that the democratic party existed before Andrew Jackson.

I'm curious, though: with what you've said about liking the French revolution and all, I'm surprised you dislike populism. What is it you dislike about it?

I disagree. I think every politician lies about more than just their sex lives (and yes, I think quite a few have and still do lie about their sex lives as well). It's a shame politifact doesn't have more on Clinton, since he's no longer the President, but: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/personalities/bill-clinton/ And yes, that isn't a proper sample size, but it does show he's lied, and it is far from being about his penis.

Even if it's just about where they put their genitals, I'd rather have all high-level government people be honest about things. Obviously, I don't think they should actually bring it up, and I don't think they should deviate from talking about important things, even if people ask. But, if there's suspected criminal activity, or adultery or something else that leaks, may as well be honest. I respect honesty more than anything else-hence, I don't respect almost any politician much, hah.

Oh, no, I don't like ( ... )

Frankly, I'm amazed that's all they have on a man known as "Slick Willy" before he became president. And even their "pants on fire" lies are pretty underwhelming. They don't even hold a candle to the outright fabrications the Republicans have been pushing for many years. Saying his wife apologized faster than she did at a different time of day than she did isn't even in the same zip code as, oh... we have proof of WMDs, or the Health Care plan forces old people to tell a panel of doctors how they want to die. I think the difference in magnitude is staggering, personally. One lie is not equivalent to another ( ... )
