teacup corsets.
hello all.
i spent most of last year *thinking* about this project, but only this year have i actually *started* it. i have a collection of over 50 different teacups, and somehow i got it into my foolish head that it would be a great idea to reinterpret each teacup as a corset.. the shapes are [almost] similar, and the designs are [somehow] very inspiring to me.
i still consider myself a beginner; i've made three of these, so far, [the blue and white ones are made for my measurements, the butterfly one is for my sister's,] and as i make more i'd like to do and/or use something different for each one [diffrerent patterns, materials, methods, etc.] altogether too many details and pictures of the the above corsets can be found here,
white and gold flowered cincher.
materials: spring and spiral steel bones, white cuddle satin, unbleached canvas, white cotton, natural twill tape, white cotton bias tape, woven flower trim, metallic gold dimensional fabric paint, white 5mm eyelets, white satin cord. [based on: this teacup.]
my "seashell" overbust corset.
materials used: spring and spiral steel bones, grey-blue woven brocade, white twill, gold-printed white cotton, white twill tape, jute cord, teal cotton bias tape, teal trim, 00 antiqe brass grommets, teal cord. [based on: this teacup.]
my sister's "butterfly" overbust corset.
materials used: 13" busk, spring and spiral steel bones, cream-coloured dupioni silk, butterfly print cotton, unbleached canvas, miniature leaf print cotton, natural twill tape, sage green cotton bias tape, woven cotton lace trim, 00 antiqe brass grommets, leaf-green sheer/opaqe ribbon.
