Hello! I desperately need some help. I have my wedding on the 11th of July and I'm about to buy my dress which I love, except for one part, the back:

You could make a placket out of a similar material that would pin, snap, or hook to either side of where the lacing now starts. Sort of like a back stomacher.

Isabelladangelo, that's what I was thinking about but she said it would bulge out and look like it doesn't belong...I was also thinking about some side panels and bring the back together with a zipper? would that work or is the distance between the two back sides too big to make side panels look good and look like they were made like that from the beginning? Would side panels alter the structure of the corset?

An only way is to completely replace the back piece.

Thank you cherniavska! I will talk to her Friday and see what solution she will be more comfortable with...I'm a bit reluctant to have the whole back replaced, because the chances for the dress to end up looking bad are a bit higher and too little time until the wedding to come up with a back-up plan. But the stomacher idea sounds appealing.

Another option would be to add more lacing points - to capitalize on what jeannedehylton says.
Right now you have 3 lacing points on each side, if you add at least 4 more, it would enable you to lace it better with thinner lace and/or make it a decorative lacing more than anything else.
But if you want a zipper - you need to redo the back.

Is there something specific about the back lacing that you do not like? It might be easier to adjust something connected to the part you dislike (how wide the ribbon is might be making the lacing more obvious, perhaps swap it out for a thinner ribbon?) rather than replace the whole panel if that is not an easy option right now.

the skirt of the dress is long, but the actual dress underneath has a short skirt and I my style will be a bit more rock/punk...I don't think that the lacing in the back fits the vibe...I don't necessarily want a zipper in the back, but I want to hide the lacing. I keep on looking it up and I think that the stomacher, if made well, will be perfect to achieve that. I cannot think of anything else and I've been struggling to come up with something for a week now.

This is your wedding, so it is entirely up to you. I think of corsets as very rock/punk. You could choose to make a feature of it - add more lacing points, and use a thinner, coloured ribbon - red, black, purple.... whatever fits other colours you're using (eg it might match the ties if there are dudes in the wedding party). My perspective is a bit skewed as I wore a purple and black corset dress for mine :)

Not helpful, I know, but I think the dress is stunning as it is. :) Either way, best wishes for your future!
