Follow up to Tilted Waistline

Hello everyone! I've finally finished my first muslin, and I'm pretty encouraged by the results. I know I need to make some edits to the bust area to better support the "ladies". Any suggestions for editing my pattern for the next go around would be appreciated. Some stats, my natural waist right now is a 56, this corset fully closed is a 44, ( Read more... )

Thank you for the feedback. I'm going to redraft the pattern tonight with a lot of the changes you've suggested. I'm still waffling a bit about how to handle the front neckline. The finished corset will be the base for my wedding dress bodice, so I don't want it too low cut. I'll try it lower this time around and see how it goes.

Nice work on the mock-up! (Not saying there isn't room or need for some tweaking, but you already know that: it's why you've made a mock-up in the first place.) I'm truly impressed (who am I? Oh, someone whose very first finished corset didn't look as good as this muslin/mock-up. It worked, but it didn't look anywhere near this good! I agree with sister_bluebird, that you have done an amazing job!) and you should be very proud of the work you've done so far ( ... )

I did scoop and sweep my breasts up once I had the corset laced. My breasts do sit rather wide on my chest, which causes all sorts of fun with bras. I'm a G cup ( ... )

Also, sadly I do not have a sewing buddy in the area, and definitely no one who has a clue how a corset is supposed to fit. My fiance had a hard time understanding why I needed "boring" pics of the muslin. I'm flying blind I'm afraid.

Hasty reply, because it's way past my bedtime.

- I still think you should keep the hip loose. That dress has a whooooooooole lot of foundation (somewhere on the web, someone did an x-ray or some kind of scan of a Charles James dress, there is so much structure under there it is nuts). There's no reason to fit the hip down if you don't have to and it'll support the front of the skirt as-is.

- Here is a very rough picture of several different things.

As a curvy gal of ample bosom, definitely raise the back. And to raise the girls to god, I don't even start the angle on the ovebust until it hits my natural breast-swell and keep it high and tight (when I've done corsets for others, if they have sort of flat but big breasts I often put some padding underneath to prevent the crease in top of the boob from being shoved up and in.
