I pulled up the Curtain Along as an example.

Sadly, I have a tendency to freeze up and do nothing, when confronted with too much of a popular trend. Even if it is something that I have been interested in for a long time, or I think I have a new twist on it. I am very self conscious of being seen as a copy cat or following a trend, and I have had some very negative and discouraging experiences with going out on my own to accomplish a concept that is a little "off true".

I ran across something yesterday that made me think "all the cool ideas are taken" so that is where this stems from. Sadly children were too noisy so I probably didn't write it well.

you did just fine.
I blame my mother. She had an unfailing ability when I was young to really praise what I did, then find something that had inspired me, or that tangentially was similar that I knew about and go "oh, I thought your idea was original, that is too bad that you are just copying".

It IS really tough. Even though I'm loving the curtain-along and I feel it gives us all permission to not be especially unique, I still want to put my own spin on it.

Thanks for the link to Kitty Calash, BTW. I had not seen her blog before!

I googled "curtain along" and most of the hits I got, you had on your pinterest, but not that one, which was why I linked to it, in hopes you would see it, in a round about way.

I wish I could join the curtain along, but my life sucks right now.
