I recommend an Android phone instead. That way you have a choice of phones and carriers, and you don't have a company like Apple deciding what apps you are allowed to install on your phone. I used to only recommend Android phones to geekier people, but they've been getting better, so now I don't think anyone is better off with an iPhone.

I've never tried an Android as the person above me has suggested, so I can't compare...

But I LOVE my iPhone. I bought a 3GS 16GB in October and it is everything I could possibly need. The battery life was a bit sucky at first, but after I adapted and such, it was well worth it. I hear the new iPhone 4 has a better battery capacity.

Three words in the dislike category completely destroy it for me. A.T.&T. With consistent network outages, no more unlimited data plan, crappy customer service, lack of 4G network. It makes any other phone look good. In the like category, Iphone 4 can multitask(finally) and it has a pretty screen..that shatters easily. If you want a similar experience, go with the HTC EVO 4G. Does everything the iphone does and only costs 200.00..and with Sprint you get an unlimited data plan for a reasonable price.

Yeah, the Evo is the phone a lot of people are lusting after. It has terrible battery life, but I know a former iPhone owner who got one, and he loves it. Also, Sprint's service is excellent. I was with them for nearly 10 years, and I would still be their customer if my old phone hadn't died at a time when they weren't offering any new phones I wanted.

make sure you get a bumper with it, otherwise you'll be dropping calls and scratching screens.

yea, i think that is a deal breaker for me... as I am LEFT handed, and they knew about the issue, did not fix it and basically told people "dont hold it that way" pompous asses. And then when knowing about it, didnt give the bumpers to people giving their left leg to get one of the new iphone 4. silliness!
