Well, well... Here I am in a
LiveJournal Land at last. This is terra incognita for me, to say the
least, and I haven't a clue where to start. But here goes...
My name is CorvetteClaire - or just Claire - and I write Harry Potter
( Read more... )
Welcome to LiveJournal, Claire! I'm Abby. I've friended you, for I just adore your fics. If you ever need any help with LJ (because when I first started it was about the most confusing thing ever), just give me a holler. I'm no expert, but I'm certainly willing to help. :)
Then I'll have to take a deep breath and try not to make a huge fool of myself.
But, hey.. the other day, I went through another of someone's 300+ H/D (only) fiction rec list, and I'd read them all. (as well as the +300 which aren't recced), and still Thicker Than Blood/Adamant and Starlight are still sitting at the tippy top of my H/D greats.
I should write a proper review soon- but all I get around to doing is, mentioning it on the side of other reviews, as the impossible standard for other fic.
so, just a lot of slobber and drool and worship. and hoping to see a lot more of you, if it doesn't get in the way of your writing.
I hope I've done this reply-thing properly this time and you actually get this message. :) Thank you for the welcome, and thank you LOADS for the comments on my fics. I'm working on A&S right now... or I'm supposed to be, but I'm getting distracted by all the fun with LJ. Sooner or later I'll get back to it.
isn't lj distracting? I wrote all of two sentences this morning when the little e-mail alert bell went off- and no more pontificating on tourists and politics- no, no, not with a cross-dressing fic in another window... (bad bad me)
what with the comments, layouts, user pictures, friend pages, responses... it's zee devil...
To Abby and frogslayr, thank you VERY MUCH for your welcome! I'm posting a response here, in my own journal, because I don't know the proper etiquette for responding to messages in LJ. Do I answer here? Do I go to your journals? Oy! It's a puzzle! (You'd think I'm a complete computer dunce the way I'm behaving, but really I'm not. Reeeeally.)
LOL, I suffered the same confusion! Just watching other people, and looking at the set up of things, you really get a feel for it. As for replying to comments in your own journal, replying to the post itself that somebody left is the route most often traveled.
Underneath each new comment, there's a tiny link in paranthesis: "Reply to this." Click on that, and a reply box will pop up. Post your comment in that, and hit "Post Comment" and you're ready to go! The person you're replying to will be notified by email that you've replied to their comment. :)
I'm beginning to get the hang of it... at least as far as navigating my own journal. But my brain is limping about, begging for mercy, and I haven't even tried to post a story or anything major like that. Oh, well. One thing at a time.
Thanks! This is a lot of fun, though it's terribly distracting. I don't know how much writing or Real Work I'm going to get done, with so many new toys to play with... :)
Hello! :)) I adore your fics beyond all reason, I really do! I friended you before I even verified that you're the author of Thicker Than Blood, so you could've just been a girl named Claire with a Corvette (which you might still be, and still would be a good reason to friend you :D).
If you have any questions at all about LJ, feel free to ask. It'd be fun to answer. Oh, and you might find this bit useful. When you want to refer to a user or community on LJ, you can do this: (lj user=usernamehere). Just with < > instead of ( ). So...corvetteclaire! Ta da!
And seekertoseeker looks like it's going to be such fun. &hearts!
Thank you VERY MUCH! And just for the record, I am a girl with a corvette - a red one with black leather seats - who loves her car like a second child. Luckily, I live in Southern California, where we have great freeways, great weather and all kinds of nifty places to drive.
Thanks for the LJ tips. I can definitely use them!

And every so often, I go to my user info page and smugly look at <lj user= on my friends list.
(really, there are tons of lovely writers there, but you just make me.... well all puddly)
