Dinner Evening [locked for kaycee_jazz]

Kaycee had told Cory to surprise her. So he was going to. He arrived at her place, flowers of various types he purchased from Callie's flower shop were laid before her door. A bottle of wine was next to them. The a little stuffed bear. Around it's neck was a rope band crystal. Made in Russia. Cory then stepped back and started placing a trail of ( Read more... )

Looking up from where she was working at her piano, Kaycee listens intently. She thought she sensed Cory, now recognising an immortal's energy, but when there was no knock on her door she shrugged and returned to the chorus that was giving her grief. She scribbled through the phrases she had written, then screwed up the paper and tossed it in the trash can on the floor next to the leg of the piano.

She rested her chin on her upraised knee, and stared into the distant wall.

Rhyming with clarity... must be...

She stopped midthought and turned to look at the window, the sound of somthing hitting it making her puzzled. Standing she walked towards it, and looked outside, this time seeing the small stone that came from below. Leaning over she looked down and laughed softly when she saw Cory, arm drawn back ready to throw another. "Don't they have stairs and front doors in Siberia?" she calls out.

Cory grinned dropping the rock, "Hey, feel lucky I didn't knock another way..." like he was going to with Frankie. Oh that man was going to get a knock.

"Well, you coming down? Peter Luger Steak House is waiting," He shouted up.

"Just let me get my coat and I'll be right down," she replied and closed the window, then the lid on the piano keyboard. Collecting her coat she checked her keys were in the pocket and pulled the front door open, casting a quick glance around the apartment to make sure no candles had been left burning.

She's just about to take a step when something makes her stop and look down, a small gasp of delight sounding at the sight that awaits her.

So it was you I sensed, cheeky! She allowed the door to swing open again, and bent down, scooping up the flowers and picking up the wine and teddy. Her eyes catches the crystal as her hand brushes the energy from it, and she looks at it, curiously. Eyebrows twitched when she felt it, and she walked quickly back inside, carrying the flowers across the expanse of floor to the sink, knocking the plug into place and putting a few inches of water into the sink, resting the flower stems in it. She inhaled, deeply and closed her eyes as the combined scents became heady. Turning the tap off she picked up ( ... )

Cory was playing with a snow ball, throwing it back and forth to himself when Kaycee arrived. He dropped it quickly and smiled. "Delay? Gifts?" He was grinning, "Aww, how cute. It's a bear with a rock around his neck." He was teasing of course.

He took her in his arms and hugged her then lead her around to help her in the car. "From Russia, both of them. I picked them up in a shop. The lady told me the crystal meant happiness or something like that." He started the car, letting it warm up.

"Yes, very young, but I was raised by my grandmother, Una, who is also one of my spirit guides," she added brightly, "and she taught me her skills, plus helped me learn mine, and how to use them."

Cory shifted, "Do you remember anything of your parents? Did your grandmother ever talk about them?" He asked in going back to eating some more. "What else did she teach you?"

"I remember my father's laugh, his voice in fact, as he had a beautiful singing voice. He used to sing to my mother, my grandmother told me, when they were courting, on the island. It sounded so romantic," she sighed. "He used to sing me to sleep when I wouldn't go down," she added. "Mum used to cook, which always smelt good, and different to most of the cooking my friend's parents would do. She used a lot of spices and things that were not well known, and seafood." She took a sip of the wine and lowered the glass back to the table.

"Una taught me lots, everything, I guess."

Cory listened, the story sounding like a fairy tale. It was nice and he heard the hint of sadness in her voice. It was small but there. He nodded in listening, "What did she teach you? Just wondering how different it is to the Indian's" He smiled a little.

Her long hair swung out as Cory danced her from the restaurant, laughter dancing along with them. As he dipped her a small high-pitched 'Ohhh' sounded, and her eyes sparked with the reflection of the moon as she looked up at him. "Let's go, I haven't been to the beach since I arrived, and I miss the sea," she declared. "It's been waaaay too long since I've felt the sand between my toes!" she added as she leaned down and pulled her shoed from her feet.

Cory smiled and helped her into the car then drove them to the beach. It was still cold but he didn't care as he went around to the trunk and pulled out a small radio. He then grabbed a blanket and a bottle of wine. Screw the glasses. He also pulled out a candle.

He walked with her to the beach, she nearly running which made him smile. He at the items down, turned on the radio to some music. "What do you want to hear? This is one of those XM radios."

As her feet reached the sand she felt the cold touch of it and after a few strides, stopped, and wriggled her toes in it. It was cold, but she didn't mind, holding her coat around her body. She turned when Cory asked about the music. "Something to dance to," she replied simply, walking back to where he was standing. "Whatever you find you like," she added.

Cory found an oldies station that had big band music. It reminded him of better times back in the twenties and thirties. He sat it down before taking Kaycee in his arms to move slowly to the music.

"How's this he asked, holding her one hand while the other rested at the center of her back. He was so glad he knew how to dance.
