Leaving... [locked for riene_romanov]

The scent of the flowers filled the room. The music played, people watched as she made her way upon her brother's arm down the isle. Cory watched as the woman he loved moved away from him and into another's life. It was the hardest scene he was witnessing. It was best for her this way, however. Joel was a better man than he ever in his long life ( Read more... )

"Never thought I'd see the day he walked someone down the aisle," Riene had made it to just inside the doors, just close enough to see without approaching the bouncers that infected this wedding like flies on a corpse.

Sidestepping a bit, Riene planted herself right in front of Cory, demanding he notice her. Lashes fluttered and Riene posed like a cheap hooker on the strip. Her leather jacket and snug green dress helped the effect along. "Hey baby... you looking for another party to take your mind off this one?"

Both shoulders dropped a moment later and she hedged her bets with another approach. "Neither of us belong here, Raines. C'mon, I'll buy you drink."

Cory stopped as he caught the voice. His head turned to look over his shoulder at the scene being played out. "Who knows, maybe he will make the trip himself one day. But going this way after the 'I dos.'" he shrugs.

He started to go on but the little bit was blocking his way. He frowned at her, more like at her little display but then her approached changed. He blinked once, twice. Mulling over his answer before sticking his elbow out to her, offering her to take it.

"What's your name because you seem to know mine, little bit."

"I put some effort into learning your's, handsome. You had tongues wagging all through western Europe. I'm Catherine." Riene settled herself on Cory's arm with a smile. It was quite a relief as the chords of music faded behind them. "I won't tell you what most men call me since we're frightfully close to a church and profane language would be wrong, but you can start with Riene and work toward some other nickname later, when both of us are in better moods."

She was content enough to let Raines lead the way. She'd cabbed it here so taxi stand, car, or a stroll down the sidewalk all worked for her. "Please tell me you've had enough vodka for a while, because I'd rather buy you a beer at someplace that doesn't smell like cabbage and potato."

"Effort huh?" Cory kept his pace at Riene's so his long legs wouldn't make her run so much. "Yeah well, I tend to do that where ever I go. Tongues would waggle anyway even if I wasn't." He was trying to play off the hits that were attempted upon him. At least Caspian had the palm pilot he acquired from one of the guys that tried to kill him.

"Catherine is a lovely name," He flashed her a charming smile since she couldn't see his eyes behind his dark glasses. "If the lady would like a beer, I'm game." He motioned over to his car, walking her over and leaning down to open it for her. "So tell me something before we go..." He stopped leaning against the car. "Why so interested in me or is it of who I look like?"
