I've been a supporter of Fonkoze for years.

I'm also fond of The Lambi Fund, which, unlike many NGOs that operate in Haiti, has actual Haitians on its board of directors and executive staff. (For that matter, I believe Fonkoze does also).

All that being said, "compassion fatigue" is a real thing - when there's a headline-grabbing disaster in one part of the world, donations flow into that region and away from other areas.

So, it's also a good time to support the local charity of your choice, since they'll probably have a drop in donations in the next few weeks.
