A comment anonymously made in reply to my pro-Merlin post, followed by my further response:

Those who protest national issues such as Big Brother's Merlin, need more than gupper tape as evidence of educated position regarding refugee's. It seems this tree hugging hippy's priority should have been regestering for Australian Citizenship, as opposed ( Read more... )

In his defence, you can't pick on him for a misplaced apostrophe! I dare say those who were in support of Merlin (yourself excluded), had far worse grammar.

On a side-note, and being careful not to place my own opinion, I did read that Merlin's parents were in fact German nationals who overstayed their visa by 7 years, living illegally in Australia. If such is true, maybe he does his cause injustice by attacking our Immigration Policy...

Australia takes the 2nd highest amount of refugees per capita of head behind Canada. The issue is that illegal immigrants ARE NOT REFUGEES! They are full fee paying queue jumpers. They arrive and are not elected gov as you forget. They declare that THEY are refugees. Others original country cannot be determined usually because they don’t want us to know they were once rich and now just want free Centrelink money. Again this is all a side issue to what our constitution says our federal gov has the responsibility for, and that is the protection of out national borders and our sovereign right to decide who comes and who does not, if Australia must accept all those who land on its doorstep and demand a key, car, house and a college trust did gain this easy ticket in, what does it mean to be the commonwealth of Australia? Stuff the republic issue, if we will let "refugees" in, who can pay up to 10k US$ to get here, trying to climb in through our open windows, then we might as well just back up shop now and all get on a boat for those like ( ... )
