Old post is old, but this tutorial has been super helpful. I have a hard time working with yellows without the icon becoming a weird sunshine mess, but I feel more confident about attempts at yellow now that I've read this.
Also, random: "Flavor" is one of my favorite Tori songs. I even have an LJ account named after it that I was using for Nano one year.
Happy to hear it actually helped someone. I hear what you are saying as far as working with yellows, I love working with them but they turn out crazy looking a lot of the time.
This journal is actually named after a line in 'Ophelia' by Tori. One of my favorite names is Ophelia and I love the song and I thought it would make a good name for a journal, plus there are a lot of Tori journal names already taken. Do love Flavor as well. =)
I end up with really yellow skin, and then I struggle to get that yellow out of the skin without taking it out of the background. I can never get the balance right, and reading this, I wonder if I've just been overthinking it.
OMG I meant Ophelia. Not enough caffeine this morning. *facepalm*
haha, I totally get you there. I do the same thing all the time with like every color I try to work with. You get all of the color you want then you have to work on making the skin appear normal and it screws everything else up. A lot of times I end up changing things to monotone just out of frustration.
