Watching terrible TV, it kills all thought. Getting spacier than...

Oh, that one moment with the lights down low. He's got sweat stinging his eyes and he keeps reaching up to them, pushing thick hair of the way. He wants to see them--his crowd.

And just like that, his fingers are on the neck of his guitar, fondling the frets.

"I played this, for the first time. It was in the shower, with my acoustic."

Oh God, ( Read more... )

Well I'm not sure what Dick would serenade the world with, but I certainly need to share an instrumental piece with you (which I shall upload now). It's from season 4 of the new Doctor Who series (it's my brother's fault, he got me into it! And Kon muse freakin' loves it too! ¬¬;;;)

Can Kon-Muse even hear over all the heavy metal? ♥

Oh super-hearing and the acceptable limit to how cool people listen to music.

And still, I get happy butterflies just thinking about Robin's iPod playing muffled indie songs while he patrols on dull nights--the sounds audible right along with his heart beat, zip line, secret humming. Oh, those signs of life that are overheard by super clones in the night...

ooOoOh! BBC Orchestra even. I'm a sucker for orchestras.

It's pretty nice.

I'll match that with a favourite musical piece I stumbled across: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCObXuAwCIA

Mmmmmm. Oh god, I love the Shine 'verse so much.

For music, though, I dunno...my tastes tend to be a bit more old-school, and if there's one thing I've found online, it's that there's a tremendous diversity in musical tastes.

I always picture Dick being really dramatic. He would have loved the eighties, all flashy costumes and overdone dance moves...cycnus39 posted an old video of "Heart - Alone" back at the beginning of March, and while I would hope that Dick's music is a bit more musically, er, sophisticated, I can totally see him watching the video and going, "Yeah!" The whole going to one's knees and bending over backwards as one practically makes love to the guitar, all in complete seriousness. So while I'm not sure what his shows *sound* like, I'm certain that he puts in as much glitter, fog, sparkles and drama as Tim lets him get away with - when it's appropriate to the song, of course. If there's one thing Dick knows, it's how to charm an audience.

*re-reads your ficbit*

So happy right now. ^_^

Ah. He's a sensation, then. All spectacle and props, though not for those tedious reasons that most performers go to them. Often, flash and dazzle is used to compensate for a lack of talent. You could seriously wound the boy with such accusations ( ... )

I should probably mention that I don't listen to (or watch) 80s music on a regular basis (okay, except when I'm cleaning house...)

Dick has passion, and talent in *spades*, but no one ever claimed he had taste. That's why, when I saw that video, in all its tacky glory, I thought, "Dick would have loved this." XD

But his talent shines through. Even in those early years, back with Donna and Roy and Wally, even when they were a bunch of kids just getting together to jam and get away from the pressures of their other "careers", out of the shadows of their mentors, he sparkled. He was a star. And he wanted flashy costumes and fog and lights and fireworks, because more was always better, right? And, as you say, it was *fun*.

Things are different, now. There's power in letting the music speak for itself, and Dick learned a lot from Bruce. But sometimes...he'd never admit it to Tim (even though Tim probably already knows)...but sometimes he misses the garish costumes and flash.

Bathrooms are the best places to make homemade recordings... it's where all the magic happens. :)

That DCfC song is one of my favorites ever. Ben Gibbard is such a poet. And the fact that he married Zooey Dechanel, it's the universes way of being awesome, I think.

I've been listening the hell out of old The Promise Ring records. Songs that have stuck out to me have been "Get on the Floor" and "Stop Playing Guitar". And "Suffer Never", but I can't find that on the 'net.

As a general rule, I recommend The Lawrence Arms and Sundowner whenever humanly possible. These songs remind me of Tim a lot, "Overheated" and for acoustic goodness, "Midsummer Classic". Oh! And "First Eviction Notice" and "Your Gravest Words"... and I'll stop. The whole "Your Gravest Words" album is just... beautiful if you like poetic lyrics, with some toughness.

And Superchunk. I completely missed Superchunk when they were alive and kicking. Which is so unfortunate because, wow. They are everything I want in an indie band. Um, I like "Kicked In". I ( ... )

My brain automatically went here in regards to bathroom music. Which is funny, because it was singing in the shower which lead to said-drabble.

I've never encountered Promise Ring prior to today. They invite further attention, though I think I'm often hooked by bands immediately with a more aggressive tempo. Promise Ring sounds like a drifting along, lassez-faire type mentality. A "content" as opposed to a "something's wrong" kind of meaning that I get from a lot of DCfC.

Does any of that make sense?

Ah! Lawrence Arms reminds me of Brand New. Boy that takes me back. My best friend got me into the Brand New craze, and she could get into bands like nobody else I knew could. I'm definitely footnoting them for future over-listening.

I know the Jealous Sound. :3 "Hope for Us" grabbed me, and it makes me think of the whole Odyssey, in a way. Of long journeys and things far too powerful being far too interested in plaguing you. Did you honestly believe, that you could ever leave/ any time that you'd want?Mmmmm ( ... )

Oh Dick. He'd want to make love to the world using music. That's why we all love him.
