Zoe - no answers today, only more questions

The PET Scan results came back negative. It revealed nothing. Looked totally normal. Doctors are shocked. And so, there is still no explanation and nothing we can do other than keep medicating, which isn't really helping anymore. We're upping levels, but even level increases never work for longer than a 1/2 day anymore ( Read more... )

Even if it's not much, I've been spreading the word, so more good thoughts and prayers will be coming your way, along with my own.

No apology needed, Mark. I was glad to have the chance to say hi at least.

Had dinner with my parents today, I mentioned that you guys were at CHM for a PET scan - turns out the funds raised by the Festival of Trees were dedicated to that equipment (mom was a volunteer for FOT for years). So all that stuff Jamie did for them really did pay off. :)

I told Jamie that I thought it was well-worth his charitable efforts. If not for that, we'd have had to drive to another state and probably pay $5000 for the scan only to find out there's nothing. We're very lucky the test was right here and covered by insurance as part of the hospital admission.

What about finding a Nanny with some experience in seizures...? I'm sure it's out there somewhere. That'd also give Zoe a really stable every day the same environment that kids love and the care she deserves (and the peace of mind you'll need!!!) Anyway, that just was a thought that came to me just now.

That's a very good thought. If things continue to go this poorly into next week and the prospects for stopping her seizures continue to get dimmer, we'll certainly be beginning a search for a nanny like that.

If you need FMLA-related advice, don't forget Zoe's two fairy godfathers in Chicago who run HR departments. :)

Thanks. There's no FMLA with pay though, correct? Without that, it doesn't serve us too well. We need to be able to keep our incomes going.

FMLA is the law, and your company should have a policy about how it administers it. FMLA doesn't require that you be paid, but depending on governing state law and your company's policy, they can exceed the legal requirements. Probably not, and if you're not able to take the time unpaid, then you're probably waiving your FMLA rights because you're not taking FMLA ( ... )
