Zoe Status

Oct 29, 2008 23:36

After that horrible day on Sunday where Zoe was basically all episodes and misery, Monday was an absolutely perfect day with no episodes and an extremely happy, well-adjusted baby. Then yesterday, Zoe slept like she was in a coma through the entire day. She was awake for a couple of hours tops, basically just by totalling up feedings and ( Read more... )

Thand God for good doctors. Seriously. I am extremely happy to see one that is actually doing what he should, and going out there for you and Zoe. That neurologist is an old fart asshole, who thinks he's seen everything, and can't bother trying to think of something new to look for.

I'm keeping everything crossed that this new stuff helps Zoe, and if it doesn't then at least that you are all on the right path.

Yeah, I have no clue about babies either, really. 4 months on-the-job training is about all I can claim. And that (fear) certainly is absolutely possible. Though, for the first 5 minutes she seemed just fine with him... even smiling. But who knows? She SHOULD be scared of doctors by now. She's in an office every other day, pretty much, and they almost always do something she hates (stab her with a needle or restrict her movement or whatever else a baby wouldn't be into ( ... )

I know practically nothing about medical, but have two children of my own. Has anyone checked vitamins and things like that? My friend's not even year and a half old daughter ended up having a stroke in July. After searching and searching for a cause, they found that she was deficient in folic acid, which of itself wouldn't cause a stroke, but they discovered a genetic defect that when coupled with the deficiency causes stroke. Turns out, it was also the reason my friend had such horrible problems during both of her pregnancies and had two premies. I would imagine it's a stretch by a long shot, but it may be something to consider testing for to see if the solution might be so simple as a suppliment of some kind ( ... )

Thank you. Yes, we're trying to think of and test for all of this stuff. Every time we think of a new possibility, we test for it. Folic Acid was already ruled out from tests during one of our hospital visits. Tried Vitamin B6 deficiency, that wasn't it. We've ruled out most of the other things on blood tests and such. But there is a never-ending supply of weird things that it could be. We'll soon be hitting a Neurogeneticist who'll be testing her DNA for various obscure things. I just keep hoping one of these doctors generates an answer. Or that this Acid Reflux treatment solves the problem. That would be the most wonderful thing ever.

I just read the latest update on your lovely daughter and wanted to express how grateful I am for your family that they have figured it out. U of M has a wealth of great doctors. It really is wonderful to be so happy over a strange diagnosis. At least you know now! That takes the the weight of the world off of you. Keep loving your baby and take in all that you can. They grow up too fast. Mine are only four and sixteen months, and it all ready goes too quickly. Soon enough you'll be beating the courters away at the door.
