Unfortunately, it's been easier to keep up with other sites because people made bb and iphone and other smart phone apps for them, whereas once lj was sold to the Russians, it went south and no one seemed to come back!

Although I would add an addendum: I do think that LJ could use a bit more inanity, as I consider it a lot more fun to post ridiculous shit here, where the community is more exclusive, than on Facebook or Twitter. So, in conclusion, I think the perfect LJ-mix is something like 70%-80% "serious" blogging, and 20%-30% the other stuff that is almost entirely on FB/Twitter right now.
