Dawn smiled as she walked through the night. She loved everything about living in Italy-- especially at night. It was as though the entire city came to life.

One of her favorite things to do was sit at a little cafe she had found and watch all the people walk by. She loved looking at their outfits and making up stories about where they were going to go and what they were going to do when they got there.

She sighed contentedly as she reached the cafe and sat down at her normal table. The waiter smiled at her, and brought her two cups of coffee in anticipation. Dawn thanked him gratefully and wondered if her whole life really was so predictable.

As far as her sister was concerned, Dawn had been doing everything she'd asked of her-- went to school, did watcher training, and researched. But Buffy didn't know anything of the other life that Dawn clung to, and she didn't want her to.

She hadn't wanted to give up Sunnydale, not when it involved so much being left behind. But on their first night in the city, Dawn had found the one person she had dreaded leaving behind the most. She didn't even know how or even why. She was just grateful her one love had been spared.

Dawn jumped slightly as a cool hand brushed over her own. She hadn't even realized that she had gotten lost in her own thoughts. “Am I late, little light?” Drusilla asked her, as she sat down across from her.

Dawn smiled and leaned forward, giving her lover a soft kiss. “No, baby, you're right on time.” As Drusilla smiled back at her, church bells rang softly in the distance.

“Like Cinderella.” Dru stated happily, hearing the noise. “You're my pumpkin.”
