So I was doubting whether I should be using Tumblr or LJ to keep note of the days counting up to, during, and after my upcoming month-long Tokyo trip. In the end I settled on LJ since I prefer its private nature

I really do miss LJ! And everyone on here! Most of my writing will be pretty dry and matter of-fact though... I've never been much of a writer but I wanna try and loosen up LOL
Hey! Long time no hear...(read? although I do see your posts on Facebook from time to time)
Have fun on your trip. It's always hard being alone in an unfamiliar environment..but I'm sure you'll manage. (Still feeling it from time to time here) I look forward to reading your comic.
I'd like to travel for that length of time someday! Just not sure where though, so many places I want to go to. Going to Europe isn't as expensive from here though..maybe next year.
I'm still living in NY, but I moved to a different borough(Queens! Definitely an underrated place..lots of food from all over the world) and the area is actually a bit suburb-like which is fine by me considering how loud things were when I lived in Manhattan. Considering how much time I spend in a week over there though, it's nice to be able to get away from all of it.
Well, maybe if you're going on a Europe trip, we can go together! ...Except you wouldn't be alone then of course. And of course your always welcome to come and visit me here!
Hmmmm, Queens sounds good. Yeah, I'm envious that you live in a place with a great selection of world cuisine. Food-wise, the Netherlands is one of the biggest disappointments ever. And living in the suburbs isn't so bad I recon.
it has been so long...Ive actually decided I want to try and get to Tokyo next year - if only for a little while. Im kinda feeling in a middle place as well, and I'd like to start doing the things I've always wanted to do
Well, you definitely sound like you could use some time to pursue your ambitions :) I'd say go for it but unfortunately it's never that easy to do, especially since you have to work.
I'm also doing a bunch of couchsurfing trough the CS website, as per my sister's recommendation. Not just to save money but as a way to meet locals too. Might be something to look into for when you go.
Hope you'll have a great time in Tokyo! I'm going to Japan for 3 weeks from late July to mid-August (too bad the time frame won't match) to join my boyfriend who's doing an internship on Shikoku Island. Everyone tells me it's not the greatest time to go but since I (finally...) have a job this year, I didn't have a choice :3 I'm really excited though and hope I'll have enough time and funds to go farther than Osaka/Kyoto...
Awaaaa that's a shame for sure! YOU KNOW, I COULD ALWAYS VISIT YOU IN FRANCE SOMETIME WINK WINK. But I'm gonna be attending WAH's B-day so that'll be fun!!!? I'm staying in the Tokyo area for most of trip cause I wanna take it reaaaaal easy and just get to know all the different districts. AAAHHH but I wanna go to Kyoto again too.................. what's your BF doing there if I can ask???
WHY YES INDEED WINK WINK. I have place of my own (and totally have room to host!) in the West of France (a little less than 2 hours of train away from Paris) until late November for sure, then it's a big question mark job and life-wise, haha.
So jealous re: wah's bday :D Hoping I'll still get to meet him IRL though! Have funnn.
He's doing a chemistry internship for his engineering degree (it's a 3-year course and they have to do a research internship abroad during their 2nd year -- and since he's a bit mad, he picked Japan XD).

You've been by yourself for a very long time so a trip like this probably wouldn't be much a problem for you ^^
Are you still living in NY?
