However, I must say that baseball fans are far more sane. I think I'll stick with the all-American sport.

I'll certainly not deny that football fans get crazy at times. I remember almost being trampled at the National Stadium as a kid many times...flares going off in the stands...It's close to a religion to many people.

Actually not; point spreads count. For example, in our group, Australia is ahead of Brazil in the standings, even though they both have three points for a win, because the margin of win was larger in Australia's victory. We held Brazil to just one point.
