Midnite Vultures

I've been discussing Beck with Jenna a lot. To be fair, I discuss music a lot. I discuss Beck a whole fucking lot. And I eventually discuss everything with Jenna. or maybe he's just getting old and got most of his ideas out..that happens when you get creative. look at dylan...
perhaps he feels he finally defined the genera that he wants to be in and can simply stick to that vein.
perhaps his lifestyle and becuse of that change his music changed to something you simply don't enjoy as much.

i mean, i realize all of this. i also think i might be subliminally judging his beliefs in Scientology. I may have felt different about him from then on, come to think of it.

He at some point turned on parts of his back catalog, saying there were tracks from Midnite Vultures that he would never play again live and what-not.

i definitely think he's out of ideas. everything he's done since Sea Change has been derivative of his older ideas. i'm just lamenting that i lost my ideal chances to see the guy.

of course, upon further viewing i saw some later era performances that i thought were pretty crucial.

they've since gotten over it. what videos i've seen of them they say fuck and shit and all that fun stuff.

they've gotten over their super-serious phase, and i think that it's a matter of time before Beck does the same.

tho, i will say that i have not heard their latest record. and To The 5...while nice, wasn't as dynamic as a their older stuff.

this conversation reminds me a lot of the one in Trainspotting where they were going on about how you've only got it while you're younger.
