The more things change, the more they stay the same, goes the old saying. In Cougar Ridge, that can't be more true. It's been nearly two years since the disastrous incidents that left the town a bullet riddled mess, but life does move on. However, it moves on in ways that people rarely expect. Many of those who were at the center of the strangeness have departed, either in this world or to the next, to be replaced by a whole host of new townsfolk. Of those who remain? Well just how much things have changed for them remains to be seen...
After the dramatic termination of his predecessor's reign, the new Mayor has managed to get Cougar Ridge back on its feet, though the means are obviously questionable. One can even say that The Ridge is prosperous again - which leads to the next big event on the town's social calender, the annual Hallowe'en festival. Apt, considering that nearly everyone in town believes that the entire town is haunted. If you ask around, everyone seems to have a story to tell where ghosts are concerned. This festival is being hailed as the most important one in Cougar Ridge history. After the disastrous year preceding it, the festival was called off last year.
However, even The Ridge's favorite festival could well be overshadowed by the upcoming elections. The two biggest offices in all of Cougar Ridge - Mayor and Sheriff - are up for renewal. Currently only the incumbents are in the running, but soon there's sure to be more. Josh Barty seems to have the election in the bag, being the lawman with the longest tenure on the force, but his own personal doubts seem to be getting in his way. Thwaidey believes that the election could easily go to him if the festival goes off well. However, something is coming that neither man can see, and it very may cost one, or both of them, their jobs.
Right now though, Cougar Ridge is going through a quiet time, although soon, soon, the entire town will learn that the sins of the past will come back to haunt them. But for now? Now, it's time to prepare for a celebration...
