A Welcome back, Jack message is written on the wall of his coffee house - because what would Jack’s be without a cryptic message scrawled on his wall in blood red?
If honey's what you covet,
You'll find that I love it,
Because I'll guzzle
Up the thing you prize!
The city's going downhill,
So I'll give it a thrill
And I'll take any gift of love
Hold on tight to your possessions
And watch out for my procession
So beware or they will flee like a dove
It's not a particularly good poem, Abe Hochschild knows that when he sees it. But he can’t help but shake the feeling that it's a calling card for something deeper. As for Deputy Doyle, she just figures it as graffiti... but for anyone in the know, they’ll recall a similar message was found a few years ago. The connotations are slightly different, however.
This new message is dismissed as a simple prank, a bad poet with a love for Winnie the Pooh, by everyone - well, everyone but Adriana Banka. You see she's the first person who this horrid poet strikes at. When she arrives home from Anthony Clark’s house, she discovers that the bear he won for her at the Hallowe'en Festival - the bear that was to look over her like a guardian angel - is missing. And in it’s place is a simple note: You’ve been struck by a Smooth Criminal. Strangely, nothing else is missing...
Be careful Cougar Ridge. If you love something, don’t you dare let it go. Adriana is the first, but she won’t be the last - and it won't be surprising to find sentimental objects being stolen all over town in the days to come. But why? Well, that was the mystery that was promised last week...
