I have come to the disconcerting conclusion that in all likelihood not only am I not going to become Russian by the end of the summer--I am never going to become Russian. Why did I even think it was possible? I guess because, at least to someone who was born American, it seems relatively easy to become American. Or at least quite possible. Maybe ( Read more... )

You would probably be able to really become Russian if you lived a large portion of your life in Russia. Like 20 years. I'm sorry you'll be apparently stuck with your old ethnicity forever :( although at least you can become fluent in Russian, and that will speed up the Russifying (totally not a word but I'll use it anyway) process.

Two questions for you to answer if you read these comments:
1. How exactly do you pronounce (at least in Samara) either word for "you"?
2. When are you coming home?

Unless you are male I must say.

My (our?) country is living in darkest time in its history and political apathy is the consequence of the fact that you cannot change anything thru politics.
