A Welcome back, Jack message is written on the wall of his coffee house - because what would Jack’s be without a cryptic message scrawled on his wall in blood red?

If honey's what you covet,
You'll find that I love it,
Because I'll guzzle
Up the thing you prize!

The city's going downhill,
So I'll give it a thrill
And I'll take any gift of love

Me and the boys get back in town early Monday morning so that they don't miss any more school than they already have. It's an overnight drive, but they're asleep in the back all the way here from Denver. It was a nice funeral, nothing to cough at, and certainly more than we could afford, but the director told us it had all been taken care of ( ... )

What a strange few weeks it's been. Kidnappings, arsons, and election upsets. Not to mention McIntyre's funeral (Goddamn you Faye...). I feel as though I've been sleepwalking through most of it, which is probably for the best. After Mitchell's latest outburst, keeping a low profile seemed prudent. Let people calm down and view things rationally. No one was hurt, after all ( ... )

First thing I've taken away from my weekend?

That old bat at the Jade Dragon is truly insane.

And the worst part of it wasn't waiting until the doctor open his doors Monday morning to get the burn treated. It definitely wasn't the pain; once you go through heroin withdrawal, a second degree burn is like getting a pie in the face, pain-wise. It wasn't having Vernon coming to work and looking at the burn like I was some secret S&M porn star doing maso-scenes in my home.

No. It was being dismissed after going through Survivor: Cougar Ridge with the crone without her listening to what I really needed her help with ( ... )

Don't think I've kept regular shop hours since Hallowe'en. How much business have I lost because of that? Lucky I was in when the theater manager came by. She's pretty, I've seen her, but she's pale and drawn now. I'm not the only one with bad dreams of late. Explain dreamcatchers, tell her Farah's been making some. Give her some herbal tea, my blend. Showed her books on lucid dreaming, dream interpretation, not much else I can do. I know one thing that's bothering her. She doesn't say, but I've seen it enough. She's tangled with one of the fiercer animals, and she's feeling its bite again. Offer to call an "alternative healer" I know in Redwood, don't say he specializes in addiction. She can keep her secrets ( ... )

In the morning Justine apologizes again about the old woman at the Garden. I assure her I'm not upset ( ... )
