A Welcome back, Jack message is written on the wall of his coffee house - because what would Jack’s be without a cryptic message scrawled on his wall in blood red?

If honey's what you covet,
You'll find that I love it,
Because I'll guzzle
Up the thing you prize!

The city's going downhill,
So I'll give it a thrill
And I'll take any gift of love

Mom managed to buy more food last week. Nothing much, just the usual macaroni and cheese and shit. I still feel like a jackass, so I do what any normal American kid would do. I go play WoW until I forget about it. Trog is almost to eleventh level when I hear Mom leave for work. That's when I come out to go check on the stash ( ... )

Lyndon’s delivered me some super feathers in tan, russet and gold - all the colours of fall. They are sweet-smelling, clean and fresh - the guy took me at my word about getting them clean - can’t have the bad karma of the kill can we? I’m busy sorting out some appropriate beads to thread onto the ‘web’ of the Dreamcatchers’ snare. This is meant to be made of sinew and I tentatively ask Lyndon where I’m gonna get myself some sinew…The guy already thinks I’m too frivolous for the forest - what’s his response likely to be now? Guess I could substitute some artificial fibre but the Integrity of the object may be compromised methinks. There are some gorgeous Turquoise beads that’ll offset the autumnal colours perfectly. For the others I’ll use Tigers Eye, Amber and Malachite with center stones of Quartz and Amethyst. Something ironic about the fact that the symbolism of these is all tied up with spiders and webs - I can’t be doing with arachnids: fearless Farah goes all ‘feminine’ and pathetic when our 8-legged friends are about. There ( ... )

Tac is in mild hysterics about her poster when I come in with breakfast. When she explains, I completely understand. Being a year clean is important, and something meant to celebrate it is sacred to a former addict.

I look the note over and over. Something is very wrong here. I don't think the thief took it because it was valuable. I think he took it because it was important to Tac.

Hell, this was going to be a pain.

Gabe seems to be doing much better. So much better in fact that he remembers that conversation from lunch the other day. Here is my moment, my chance to be completely honest and upfront with someone. No lies, no hidden truths, just me. Me and all my baggage ( ... )

I spent Sunday with Anthony. We both did a lot of work, but we were together, which made it better than working alone. And, you know, taking breaks together didn't hurt either. The door was unlocked when I got home, but I figured I just forgot to lock it, so I didn't think anything of it. I always pat my bear on the head when I come in. I know, it's silly, but it's like I’m telling it I'm home, since I don't have anyone else to tell. It wasn't there. I flipped the light switch, and it hadn't fallen to the floor or anything, and there was this note on the shelf instead, "You've been struck by a Smooth Criminal." I freaked a little, I guess, and just sat on the floor crying for a while. It was late, so I didn't want to call Anthony, and I couldn't think of what else to do. Everything else seemed to be where it should be, so eventually I just curled into a ball in the middle of my futon and fell asleep ( ... )
