** VERY IMPORTANT, CONCERNING THE FUTURE OF THE GAME. PLEASE READ. **

Good morning, Cougar Ridge!

Thanks as always for all the effort everyone’s putting in. This week there’s no normal Gazette, but instead a forum. I’ve had a handful of emails this past week from players who aren’t happy with the game, most specifically with regard to other players ( Read more... )

I'm happy with the game but I'd be happier if there was less murder( It's better in small doses and I'd prefer to see more comedy. ) And more stories like the girls talking and the poker night that was mentioned just so characters can talk.

( YES - 2 CHARACTERS )

I shall echo this sentiment. I have not been a big fan of the murder and what not. The first one was okay, but this last one (two?) have been a bit much for me. Prefer the interactions and what not.

I know there's only been two murders so maybe I should say violence instead just to clarify. :) I really like the thief story because it makes a good change of speed.

As the murderer du jour, I have to say I entirely agree. In fact, I've said as much to one of the GMs. It was never my intention to have Stu go on a murderous rampage...much of what I wrote with him I've felt pressed into. (That he killed the dog was more or less written for me or strongly implied. Bjorn was all me...the latest stuff was a matter of getting my character out of a character-ending bind and not at all what I intended ( ... )

My opinions. Sorry if I offend anyone, especially with the examples I use ( ... )

I don't want to have to rewrite all that, so I'm just going to tack my answer on here. Since it's almost as long, that's a good thing, I'm sure.

I enjoy the humorous touches, the interaction, the violence, and the supernatural aspect (and let's not forget the sex, or is that being grouped with the interaction?). But there does seem to be an awful lot of people jumping into plots where they don't make sense, and, how'd l'il Ms. Melanie (no offense, darlin') put it? Snipin' on each other ( ... )

An addendum to that. I like the way people are introducing their own plotlines, too. Justine and Melanie are both battered women, but that's their story, not part of the overarching town story. I think things like that are probably the best thing about this. Lyndon's romantic (if you can call it that) history coming out in dribs and drabs. Diego keeps hinting at a horrible past relationship, and maybe some day he'll tell us about it. Starre and Farah have both traveled. The explorations of character are really just cool, I think.

I'll go away now and let someone else take a turn.

Yes, with sniping, it's worth pointing out there's a difference between the kind of interaction where you're 'mischievous' with another character and the kind of post where you're either ripping another character to shreds or planting them in a truly difficult situation to wriggle out of (even if it's in the rules) either for fun or for your own benefit.

I ripped at another character not through maliciousness but because I had the opportunity to advance my own character's story at another's expense. That was completely wrong, and irreversible; it left the other character in highly undesirable position, to the extent that the player felt they couldn't continue with them.

This was obviously crap on my part. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again.

Season Two of Cougar Ridge anonymous December 2 2007, 17:33:14 UTC
I'm liking it, but not loving it. I am in agreement that there is far too much violence going on. Yeah, we've all wanted to shoot someone in the back of the head for being a bastard (or maybe that's just me) but it's getting to feel like a war zone around here ( ... )

I would agree with the murder comments - its become a bit much. And I think the seance went a bit far.

I find certain characters like Stu and Mitchell interesting and I dont want those characters to go - but how many people can we kill?

I also agree that other storylines are far more interesting - Adriana and Tony, Farah and Diego, the story of the Caldwins, other student stories like Vernon and Mei, etc. I would prefer focusing on these stories for a while and leaving the strange Cougar Ridge beast business alone.

(YES - one character)

I don’t want to start a flame war or anything but I can’t understand why anyone has complained in the first place. I don’t know the specific complaints obviously but it just seems strange. Compared to other RPG’s I’ve played this is one of the only ones that is as active as this so it’s amazing it works as well as it does ( ... )

I ask every week in the Gazette if anyone has any comments, and to send them to me via email, so I've got no problem with people expressing their opinions in that way. The purpose of this forum is just to see if there's a widespread problem or if just a couple of players are unhappy.

I can also understand how people become attached to their characters and want them portrayed consistently. I agree, however, that the format of the game makes that pretty difficult.

By the way, I'm going to assume you're still playing, but can I take a note of how many characters belong to you?

We do actually all have notes to work from. They're in the previous weeks' entries and the introduction posts.
